Hello any readers. I have been ill. Enough to keep me from Littlemeadow for a few months. But I am feeling much better now and have been fortunate enough to have had my family to keep everything going so that I can get back to work on this wild and wonderful place. There have been a lot of changes and improvements made in both halves of Littlemeadow this summer. In pt1, a new path layout. Gone is the central pathway, replaced with a short one at alternate ends to create a straight path that borders each of the newly lengthened growing areas as it winds through (see the map). A new gateway is planned, with a pagoda halfway up the fence line to provide access because the two IBC tanks now stand together and partially block access from the existing gate instead of the polytunnel (formerly known as the netting tunnel). There are two cloche greenhouses situated in the garden. The composting bins are being moved to sit one in each growing area to allow easy access when removing unwanted plants. And to make space for a second polytunnel, to replace the old polycarbonate greenhouse in pt2, which is past its best for growing in. This will take up the wild area, where plants are being moved into troughs to stand around the outside of the structure to weigh the cover down, or to other parts of the garden. Since Littlemeadow has become more of a forest garden than the traditional allotment one, I no longer need a dedicated wild area. There is much to do, and I am doing it all slowly and steadily while my mending body continues to keep me from charging into it as I usually do.
